Project

FRI. L.
Romeo, come forth, come forth, thou fearful man:
Affliction is enamor’d of thy parts,
And thou art wedded to calamity.

Enter Romeo.

ROM.
Father, what news? What is the Prince’s doom?
What sorrow craves acquaintance at my hand,
That I yet know not?

FRI. L.
Too familiar
Is my dear son with such sour company!
I bring thee tidings of the Prince’s doom.

ROM.
What less than dooms-day is the Prince’s doom?

FRI. L.
A gentler judgment vanish’d from his lips—
Not body’s death, but body’s banishment.

ROM.
Ha, banishment? Be merciful, say “death”;
For exile hath more terror in his look,
Much more than death. Do not say “banishment”!

FRI. L.
Here from Verona art thou banished.
Be patient, for the world is broad and wide.

ROM.
There is no world without Verona walls,
But purgatory, torture, hell itself.
Hence “banished” is banish’d from the world,
And world’s exile is death; then “banished”
Is death misterm’d. Calling death “banished,”
Thou cut’st my head off with a golden axe,
And smilest upon the stroke that murders me.

FRI. L.
O deadly sin! O rude unthankfulness!
Thy fault our law calls death, but the kind Prince,
Taking thy part, hath rush’d aside the law,
And turn’d that black word ’death’ to “banishment.”
This is dear mercy, and thou seest it not.

ROM.
’Tis torture, and not mercy. Heaven is here
Where Juliet lives,
Every cat and dog
Live here in heaven and may look on her,
But Romeo may not; they may seize
On the white wonder of dear Juliet’s hand,
And steal immortal blessing from her lips,
Who, even in pure and vestal modesty,
Still blush, as thinking their own kisses sin;
But Romeo may not, he is banished.
They are free men, but I am banished:

FRI. L.
Thou fond mad man, hear me a little speak.

ROM.
O, thou wilt speak again of banishment.

FRI. L.
I’ll give thee armor to keep off that word:
Adversity’s sweet milk, philosophy,
To comfort thee though thou art banished.

ROM.
Unless philosophy can make a Juliet,
Displant a town, reverse a prince’s doom,
It helps not, it prevails not. Talk no more.

FRI. L.
O then I see that madmen have no ears.

Act 4 scene 1

JUL.
O, shut the door, and when thou hast done so,
Come weep with me, past hope, past cure, past help!

FRI. L.
O Juliet, I already know thy grief,
It strains me past the compass of my wits.
I hear thou must, and nothing may prorogue it,
On Thursday next be married to this County.

JUL.
Tell me not, friar, that thou hearest of this,
Unless thou tell me how I may prevent it.
If in thy wisdom thou canst give no help,
Do thou but call my resolution wise,
And with this knife I’ll help it presently.
God join’d my heart and Romeo’s, thou our hands,
And ere this hand, by thee to Romeo’s seal’d,
Give me some present counsel, or, behold,
long to die.

FRI. L.
Hold, daughter! I do spy a kind of hope,
Which craves as desperate an execution
As that is desperate which we would prevent.
If rather than to marry County Paris,
Thou hast the strength of will to slay thyself,
Then is it likely thou wilt undertake
A thing like death to chide away this shame,
That cop’st with Death himself to scape from it;
And if thou darest, I’ll give thee remedy.

JUL.
O, bid me leap, rather than marry Paris,
chain me with roaring bears,
Or hide me nightly in a charnel-house,
And I will do it without fear or doubt,
To live an unstain’d wife to my sweet love.

FRI. L.
Hold then. Go home, be merry, give consent
To marry Paris. We’n’sday is tomorrow;
Tomorrow night look that thou lie alone,
Take thou this vial, being then in bed,
And this distilling liquor drink thou off,
When presently through all thy veins shall run
A cold and drowsy humor; for no pulse
To wanny ashes, thy eyes’ windows fall,
stiff and stark and cold, appear like death,
Thou shalt continue two and forty hours,
And then awake as from a pleasant sleep.
In the mean time, against thou shalt awake,
Shall Romeo by my letters know our drift,
And hither shall he come, an’ he and I
Will watch thy waking, and that very night
Shall Romeo bear thee hence to Mantua.
And this shall free thee from this present shame,
If no inconstant toy, nor womanish fear,
Abate thy valor in the acting it.

God join’d my heart and Romeo’s, thou our hands,Give me some present counsel, or, behold,
I long to die.

FRI. L.
Hold, daughter! I do spy a kind of hope,
Which craves as desperate an execution
As that is desperate which we would prevent.
If rather than to marry County Paris,
Thou hast the strength of will to slay thyself,
Then is it likely thou wilt undertake
A thing like death to chide away this shame,
That cop’st with Death himself to scape from it;
And if thou darest, I’ll give thee remedy.

JUL.
Give me, give me! O, tell not me of fear!

FRI. L.
Hold, get you gone. Be strong and prosperous
In this resolve. I’ll send a friar with speed
To Mantua, with my letters to thy lord.

JUL.
Love give me strength! And strength shall help afford.
Farewell, dear father!

Exeunt.

How could a man fight against destiny

The main theme I want to explore in the play is the FL in the role of what Romeo and Juliet effect by. Although he changed a lot after romeo been banished. Three main characters in the play should be Romeo Juliet and FL. FL should be some one who tried to fight to the faith and tied to plan get Romeo and Juliet together. FL should be an main simple in the play and our idea is about how did he fight with the destiny that lead Romeo and Juliet story into an tragedy.

Since the role of feud is showed in a sery of events, I decide to stage 3 parts of different scenes which are act 3 scene 2 and act 4 scene 1. That may changed by out group and this is only my idea. Act 3 scene 1 is the start of the why Romeo has been banished and where he killed Tyblet. Its importance to the topic is that it why he has been banished and why he always need FL s help.

Romeo should be an young man who is patison and rush. He act without thinking which would lead many thing in to a bad ending. Juliet was not able to fight with her family and the destiny at that time, although she love romeo so much but she was still not murure enough when she first knew that Romeo just killed Tybalt. FL should be the god father who is old enough to thought every thing and react form everything even come out with a plan. I think I will be Romeo Davids will be FL and Chirs will be Juliet in the play.

Idea about the scenes

How did Friar Lawrence change after he knew that Romeo has been banished.

How did the death of Mercutio effect the story that happened after.

How did SH's idea of the death of Romeo and Juliet, he sustain it or opposed to it.

Both Your Houses

Both Your Houses!

In the story of Romeo and Juliet, the love start under the pressure of the hostility between two family. Although both of them wished a good ending of this love and believed that this was the true love for both of them. But by the childish decedent that made by them, and all those coincidence that happened finally made this love story end in an tragedy. If someone should more responsible then others that may be the first who start to spire blood into this story, Mercutio.

Mercutio, who first start the fight with Tybalt and killed in that fight, use his death made Romeo killed Tybalt and lead to Romeos banishment. In that condition Tybalt mean to start a fight with Romeo and made killed him this action which could end in the situation that Romeo did not draw and they were being stopped by Ben or the Citizens. But Mercutios anger made him act in a way that he thought was responsible and honorable, this action lead to his death and all the story that happened after. Seem like all the blood and death of many others which cause by both murder or illness start at Mercutios death.The honor thing that he did was bring the fight between two families, Caplet and Montague, in to the level that would revenge to each other in many ways. The Lord Caplet want to married Juliet to Paris because that he understand that death was so quick and unexpectable which will take his nephews life so quick. Romeo was banished by the Prince and hided in another city that may safe for him and his mother was dead in sickness because the banishment of his son. Friar Lawrence found that all he did and planed was proved in vain but he still did all he could to help that two kids to achieve what they wish.

There were also many people to blame about their choose made this love story finally end in an tragedy. Since the families didnt have civility, the rudeness they show made the tragedy formed. Tybalt was anger about Romeo get in his party when he first saw him, he could pick up a fight on the street with Ben in public. The only thing that he thought after he saw Romeo was kill him, or hurt him with out think or plan. Those people was rude and act6 with out thinking, they act just like Mercutio which was doing something that they thought was honorable and glory. Those actions and kindness was also could be blame by killed Romeo, the close gate and the massage that had been blocked was the kindness form Friar Lawrence end in vain, all those things happened made Romeo finally commit suicide in the end and as the original sin in Catholicism, he shall never go to haven.

When Mercutio was killed, his last ward was both your houses!. Those words was like a curse, after that it was like the blood dripped on ground, every thing start to have bloodstain on, all people start to die and all the kindness end in a bad result. Everything start at the blood of Mercutio and end in the blood of Romeo and Juliet. He thought that he did the right thing, and luckily he could never see what happened after.

Blog 7

Try to understand what I was doing.
When I first saw the L & P class I feel like this class was more close to the literature then performance and this is what makes this class as a English class. And only because it included a little bit of performance which was also count as an art class which was suitable for some one who is really bad at art, someone like me. But at that time I did not realize that performance is as important as literature. Which can be important in plays and daily life. Different for my acting class the L & P class was more focus on the staging and directing I learned a lot about how should a play set in the stage and how will the audience react after they saw the stage.

We did a lot of performance during class and we also act a lot. I learn a lot theories of acting. Like always facing the audience and who is up stage then who. It was a lot of ways to show the identity and position of some characters whose will not show their position to the audience by speak. That skill was also used a lot in the silence movie. All those staff was seem hard for me to remember.  Even now I also turn my back to the audience a lot and I did not realize that while I did that.  I feel like all the stage knowledge was easy remember then act while I act I assume that's I will forget 90% of then and only leave the basic knowledge in my head. I feel difficult to use all those stage skill to set up a play. And I hope that I could improve on this.

I will assume that all those things I learn was makes sense to me and I am always to learn some thing more in this area. I know that was all basic in stage a play and I am sure I will understand a lot when I watch the drama program in the autumn. The improve that I shall made is how to use those knowledge that l learned form class in a real play. I feel myself too idealistic in this area and I hope that I will grow realistic.

About a fight.

Enter Romeo.
My best friend. Mercutio. He was lying here. Dying. He trade me like brothers. I feel anger. That was a emotion that I could not control.
Ben. You can not control any emotion though.
Romeo. I know. I know. This time was different. I feel like I want to kill tybalt. Beat him to death next time I saw him.
Ben be calm. You should not be find get in a fight.
Romeo. I will try.
Enter Tybalt.
Benvolio: here Tybalt back for trouble again.
Romeo: My friend was hit by him, and even after this Tybalt still came for us. I was in a mood which I want to punch him in the face. If you can not beat me first, for mercutio soul I will beat you into death. Ben stay here and watch me crush him.Either you or me need to do something for what happened to Mercutio.
Tybalt Here I came again. Your childish guys and after what happened to Mercutio you still want to stay here?
Roemo Determine that. Only one of us could leave here and that man should not be you.
After a long fight, Romeo stand and keeping kick Tybalt.
Ben: Romeo, leave here, you just get in a fight that you should never tied. There are others around and Tybalt was lied on the ground after they saw this they will tell someone. Come on, leave. The After those teacher find out they will punish both of us.
Romeo: I was so such a fool.
Ben why the heck you still staying here, bro, let's move on.
Romeo exit.
C who just beaten Mercutio. Where did he run.
Ben The man who did that was laying on the ground.

Death

Death is a word that Juliet never want to hard. Specially about her cousin Tybalt. When the nurse bring this news to her it became the end of their love. Romeo tried to use blood to fill what he lost in that fight but he never care about how would Juliet family react form that and how the pirnce want to prohibit this kind of thing happened. Juliet once want to die because she thought that Romeo will escape and never came back again.

I watched the 1996 version of Romeo and Juliet, which was directed by Baz Luhrmann (Romeo+Juliet). It used the original language of Romeo and Juliet and move the setting in to another age, like now. They also abandon their weapon and use the guns to fight and defend them self. In this century those people did not change who they were in the 16 century and the Romeo was always childish no matter who was the actor. The whole movie did a great job for move this whole play in to 20 century but it still seem a little odd when people speak and react form all those things that happening.

The movie begin with a News that tell the preface which is a little disorder when I hear the teller speak like that, but I feel more normal when the Newspaper repeat that again. Those characters was exaggerate when they acted like they were begin with a fight and they also speak what they thought in the words which everyone can hear it but they will not react form what they think. And the setting was just like the original that about the hostility between two family but not too much on their love between two childish young child although they look like twenty in the movie. The dialogue made this movie funny and crazy then a remantaic movie but it attract the audience a lot. When Taybalt find Romeo in the part he is more anger then what he shows in the play, he had a face that want to kill romeo and everyone that stand between him and Romeo, that face makes me worried about Romeo although I know that he was fine. And that part Taybalt was killed I can see that he dishonorly kill the M and Romeos strong emotion to revenge

The science that Romeo and Juliet meet was change form the original but it was showing two young people when they get board with the party and finally find out each other between an fish tank, they will attracted by each other. Just like a lonely traveler find another one who want to go to the same place. They were not alone anymore when they find out that they were exist with their clear blue eyes. They use all the possible way to know each other, understand, and got in love. I feel that was more logic then fall in love at the first sight although that was fall in love at the first sight.

Friar Lawrence seem like a man who was intertwined with religion and science. He did what he think right and sent two young man into their own death. But also accomplished the objective that he start with, he unite the two family again after all those years they were hostitly with each other.

This movie was a good movie which makes something that happened in the history happened today with out makes the audience feel confused. And almost clear every point that master Shakespeare made in the original.

Anger

Anger is a strong emotions that will makes you lost your ability of thinking clearly that like we did in daily life which will notice how other react. So we may ignorant others emotion which makes other anger too.
Anger was easy to start a chain reaction.  When we was anger we effect those people around we. Once I was anger about my Spanish test I almost break up with my girl friend. Although It seems like no connection with those two things. But because I was anger I refused do the plan for our date which was set for a long time. And I refuse to go to the dinner with her.
Anger is not a good emotions but it s a part of humanity that we can not avoided.
